Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of flyers and engaging people but wearing a shirt or holding a banner isn't going to help anyone. But if all you're out for is to cause a scene/stir then I guess you'll achieve that.

I can understand why you do this, it's very brave, and I'm sure you get a good feeling doing it. I have no doubt that many of us would love to do the same thing. But, IMO, the end result is that you are reinforcing the beliefs of most everyone in the crowd. I think their applause proves that.
I agree with this. You've got guts, I'll give you that, but I always think it's a shame when apostates reinforce sterotypes.

Victoria, Australia: Report on Oct. 11th hearing involving Steven Unthank
by AndersonsInfo invictoria, australia: report on oct. 11th hearing involving steven unthank.
(this report is from an anonymous xjw who attended the hearing.
i had no plans to turn up to the court hearing as an observer, as in my experience, it can take several hearings and a number of months before any court case gets rolling.

Hey, here's a question:
Why isn't this case on www.jw-media.org?
Isn't this "persecution directed at Jehovah's Witnesses"?
Shouldn't the world know about the cruel and unusual treatment the JWs are suffering from this court case?
They've got a map full of cases of "mistreatment and harassment of Jehovah's Witnesses" there - why isn't there a big ol' pin pointing at Australia?
Good questions!

Man jailed for posting religious abuse on Internet
by hotspur inrecent news item in the uk.
this guy received a 8 month jail sentence which case was prosecuted under "hate crime" laws.
this is a very similar situation to the recent case that cedars, amelia, cantleave and others have pursued in hampshire with the police.

Is it acceptable to remove the fundamental freedoms of speech as embodied in the American 1st amendment, if that removal means that the Witnesses will be prevented from preaching or discussing ex-members?
In my opinion, no. You will find that opinion here will vary (since we are all individuals with the privelege of free thought) but I would wager most would agree with me.
However, the Scottish justice system wouldn't have much interest in the 1st amendment.

I too would have thought if any party taken to court says, "Okay we'll comply with your request and follow the secular law" that the course of the proceedings then changes - but how it represents a "potential crisis" eludes me.
I think the answer is that for years they were not compliant and for that there are fines.

Teary takes it that free speech is an acceptable sacrifice to users here, so long as they can manage to take down the Witnesses?
Teary takes it wrong. The WBTS thinks it's OK to sacrifice individuals free speech to talk about their past publications though.

Thanks for the update Barb.
This failure on the part of the Governing Body to appear or to be represented was noticed by the Magistrate who took the unusual step of suggesting and recommending to Steven Unthank that criminal charges be brought against every single member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses as opposed to the unincorporated body known as the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I, for one, would like to know what's new in the case, and as long as nobody asks for money, there is no reason why we can't discuss it.
So would I, except that I remember this happening a few time before.
